IKEA, a popular furnishings retailer, announced it’s opening a store in central Indiana…
This will be the first IKEA to open in the Hoosier State. Officials confirmed at a news conference Tuesday morning that the store will be located off Interstate 69 and 116th Street in Fishers. The company plans to open the store in fall 2017.
Right now, IKEA has 41 stores across the country and the nearest to central Indiana is a store outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.
At Tuesday’s press conference, IKEA officials said the Fishers store will employ 250 people in positions ranging from sales, to customer service, to food service and accounting, just to name a few.
Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness spoke at Tuesday’s announcement and called this “a big win for central Indiana.”
Currently there are more than 370 IKEA stores around the world. It’s a Top 100 company to work for.
