Young generations have endured many struggles in the past years, massive student loan debt, increasing social and political strife, Covid-19, inflation, social distancing, and more.
It would be a lie to say that only young people have been affected by all these problems, but it is true that they have endured a monumental level of stress. A stress that has turned into depression for many and that unfortunately has taken the lives of some young people.
If we look for the definition of depression, you will realize that its a silence illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act. It causes feelings of sadness and a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. Also, it can decrease your ability to function at work and at home. Depression will not let you have a good relationship with your family and friends because you won’t feel happy about anything.
During the pandemic, we have seen many people stressed out and unfortunately, we have heard about cases in which young people commit suicide. Also, we have heard about many violent acts toward people. For example, if we turned on our television, we are going to realize what people in the entire world is facing. Russia is attacking Ukraine and other countries are not happy about it, but they cannot solve the problem or they don’t want to make the situation uglier.
Violence is affecting all of us. Probably, young generations feel oppressed because of this. It is not easy to live in a world in where there is no solutions to the problems. What we are seeing is that in the world, each time, there are more problems and violent acts towards humans beings.
There are some things we can do in order to reduce symptoms of depression. We can do exercise, sleep well, eat healthy or avoid alcohol to improve our mood. If we can’t deal with it, we have to see a psychologist.
